The majority’s reaction to Star Trek Into Darkness

My reaction

Here’s what I found wrong/just didn’t like

• They’re arguing over the Prime Directive? THEY HAD THEIR FUCKING SHIP ON THE PLANET. UNDER. WATER. Fuck physics I guess. Not like this is a SCIENCE fiction drama or anything. And having the ship OBSERVE from space? What a ridiculous idea it should just be on the planet.
• Vengeful!Kirk barely gets a pass because he’s all biker dude in this AU. He got pressured into making the right choice.
• Carol, who is such a wonderful character from TOS has the COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY strip scene. What was the purpose? In fact what was her purpose in the film? She didn’t sway her dad or do anything except get hurt.
• John Harrison’s whole plot line
• What was inside the torpedoes. 
• Star Fleet not being the Star Fleet it’s supposed to be.
• All the deaths, including in the first movie with Vulcan, being used as a character devices. 
• “Magic blood” 
  
  Keep in mind that this blood was available in the 1990s and only now they discovered it’s uses? 
• Spock and Uhura acting like a bunch of six year olds. I mean seriously how unprofessional did they make Uhura look by bitching about her relationship, in front of the Captain, right before a huge mission?
• How they handled “The Big Reveal”. Let’s just say that as a TOS fan you knew what was up from the trailer, and if you’re not a TOS fan then the big “I am asjkfa;” meant nothing because you didn’t know who the hell that character was. I mean ugh.
  
• Not enough Karl Urban and Simon Pegg to bring this movie up a notch.
• The fate of Harrison’s character was SO DUMB. After all they said about trials and justice, they decided that that ending was ok?
  
• Quinto epically failing doing the famous TOS line. Serious epic fail.

So again, did I watch the same movie. WTF did you enjoy? All the pretty lights? Which to give Abrams his due he does create beautiful stuff. London was gorgeous. Oh but to add another bullet.

• Not enough space, too much Earth

Besides the scenery and action sequences, I’m really at a loss how you could say 5 mins after the movie that it was a quality film. During the movie it purposely movies so quick so you don’t notice the bullshit.

I’m just so confused by people saying it was better than the first, or “excellent”. I guess style does beat substance.

Thoughts: I have a problem with reading Destiel with Angel!Cas so I really should stick to the AUs. This one was pretty good. I liked that the author gave a reason why Castiel was so socially awkward. Also I’m a big sucker for angsty!Dean. I really liked how slow Castiel and Dean were at getting together. And then after they did I liked the problems they faced, more then just the “Dean freaks about not being hetero”. Plus they were so adorable. Also a fan of any fic that has Mary in it and being a mom to Dean and Sam. 

Also on the livejournal link the author has done several short sequels about 1-4K long.
